Weak acid

An acid is described as weak if it is only partially dissociated into ions in solution. It therefore has a low concentration of hydrogen ions (H+), hence higher pH value of 4 to 6.99...

Examples: Concentrated sulphuric acid (H2SO4(l)), ethanoic acid (CH3COOH(l))

Unlike concentrated hydrochloric and nitric acids which are solutions in water, sulphuric acid is a dry liquid (has no water), hence very weak. Water enhances ionic dissociation.
