Basicity of an acid: monobasic, dibasic, and tribasic acids

Basicity of an acid is the number of replaceable hydrogen ions (H+) per formula unit of it.

Examples: Hydrochloric acid (H+Cl-(aq)) has a basicity of 1 (monobasic)
Dilute sulphuric acid (H2SO4(aq)) has 2 (dibasic)
Phosphorous acid, H3PO3 has 2; yes 2 (dibasic)
Phosphoric acid (V), H3PO4 has 3 (tribasic)
