- Identify from A to E, the structures that conduct electricity.
- For each structure identified in Question 1, explain why it conducts electricity.
- For any one structure that does not conduct electricity, explain why it does not.
Answers to Questions 5.1(a)
- A and C
- A: It has electrons which move about freely and therefore carry electricity from one point to another. C: The ions, which carry charge, move about freely; so they carry electricity from one point to another.
- B: Ions are strongly bound or held together; so they do not move about. D/E: The atoms or molecules are neutral; that is, positive and negative charges are together so they neutralize each other.
